Welcome to Rainbow Square Meaters Stud

Rainbow Square Meaters Stud is operated by Tony and Ellen Cairns near the historic town of Braidwood not far from Canberra, after the stud was established nine years ago, soon after the breed itself was established.

The district is well known for the quality of beef cattle bred in its temperate climate. We had been involved in the beef industry for over twenty years, initially with the famous Red Hill Hereford Stud,  and later in a cross-breeding program involving Hereford, Simmental, Limousin and Angus genetics. However, dissatisfaction with the performance of these larger frame cattle, especially during the increasingly frequent hard times, led us to search for a better performing, medium frame breed.

Square Meaters have more than fulfilled our hopes and aspirations, and given us great pleasure in the process.

Since establishing the stud we have set out to produce animals which will be at the forefront of the breed's evolution and development, and supply the highest quality genetics to the ever expanding group of discerning cattle breeders who are electing to enter this exciting and highly productive breed.

We are now able to supply interested buyers with the breed's foremost genetics in stud or commercial bulls, females or semen, with embryos soon to be available. Progeny of all ages are available at commercially realistic prices and we are able to assist with delivery in most circumstances.

The quality of our stock is confirmed by the decisions made by judges in the showring, especially over the past two years, endorsing the breeding program followed since the stud's inception.
